The most beautiful seasons of the year in Israel are winter and spring. Winter in Israel means rain after 6 to 10 months of sunny days with a temperature of 30-36 degrees. It means water after a long period of cloudless skies and dry, hot days. Rain means magic that turns the yellow dry land into a blooming Paradise.

February, March, April and May are the months of excursions, family picnics and "flower watching". We just go out into nature and look at the flowers. We never pick them because they are so precious. Pupils from Ort Syngalovski went on a trip and took some pictures to share with you (taken by Raz, Ort Singalovski).

The Daffodil/Narcissus (In Hebrew: Narkis)

The daffodil is a very beautiful and noble flower, with a wonderful scent, which grows in Israel during winter and spring time. It grows mainly in the northern and central parts of Israel. It starts blooming in the mountains during November and blooms only later in the lower places and valleys. The daffodil is also called the king of the marshes.

We have a beautiful legend about the Daffodil which says that the frogs crowned the flower king to honor it.The legend tells that the king of the frogs was sick and could only be cured by smelling the smell of the daffodil. The daffodil was humble and kind enough to come all the way from the beautiful and sunny meadows to the damp and cold marshes in order to heal the king frog with its lovely smell. To thank it, the frogs made the daffodil king of the marshes.

The Cyclamen (In Hebrew: Rakefet)

The cyclamen is a flower that resembles a crown in purple-pink that flourishes in the fall and the spring; a perennial plant that has a bulb whereon it grows. Its green leaves resemble a heart. This flower is common mainly between rocks in the mountains.

The Furze (In Hebrew: Rotem)

A deserts plant that grows in Israel. Its deep derived roots help it to pump water from the desert and stop the wandering sand. Its flowers are white, aromatic and full of nectar. The furze or rotem grows in lots of places: along the highways, along the Mediterranean coast between Tel-Aviv and Haifa, in the northern parts of Israel as well as along the highway in the Negev desert. It looks as if a magic hand has spread a white blanket.
